Don't Crash
The Ship.

S(2) extends your flight skills from small fighters to large multicrew vessels — frigates, dropships, and capital ships. As a Squadron member you will regularly operate in mixed fleets where large ship handling is essential.

Nothing is more demoralizing than crashing a ship full of people. This cert ensures you can be trusted to fly passengers without ruining a night of gaming.

Certification Goal

Multicrew & Large Ship Standards.

The member can fly passengers, operate a large ship in decoupled mode, and handle simulated emergency scenarios.

Expected Outcome

Passing Members Can…

Member can control a large ship decoupled through an obstacle course, has passed multicrew training, and has demonstrated emergency handling.

Three Things To Know

Large Ship Obstacle Course

Controlled decoupled flight in a Vanguard or Asgard. Proves you can handle a big ship before you're trusted with passengers.

Multicrew Training

Passenger transport under fire, emergency maneuvering, and potential crash/recovery scenarios.

Emergency Handling

At least one emergency scenario per evaluation. Stay calm, communicate your state, prioritize crew survival.

What Gets You Through

Pass

  • Obstacle course completed within pass threshold for large ship class
  • Multicrew scenarios passed to evaluator's satisfaction
  • Emergency handling demonstrated

Watch Out For

  • Cannot maintain controlled flight in large ship decoupled
  • Fails emergency scenarios repeatedly
  • Crashes with simulated passengers aboard
Preparation

Before You Book The Eval

01
Large ships handle completely differently than fighters

Get practice time in a Constellation or similar before your eval. Do not arrive cold.

02
In the emergency scenario: communicate first, act second

Call your state, tell your crew what's happening, then fly. Silence is the main failure mode.

03
Start L(3) now — in parallel with S(2)

S(3) needs both S(2) and L(3). If you wait until S(2) is done before starting L(3), you're adding weeks of delay.
