L(3) is required for every Enlisted member regardless of their combat division. The reason is simple: every member should understand the economic backbone of the org — the resource operations that fund equipment, ships, and events.
Marines and Squadron pilots who pass L(3) become far more useful crew members and understand how the org sustains itself. This is not optional for any division.
All members — Marines, Squadron, and Logistics — must pass L(3) before reaching higher-tier ranks. It covers salvage, mining, hand mining, and the Regolith website.
Member can independently perform salvage operations, mining operations, and hand mining. Member has completed a full Regolith logistics run with the org.
Hull scraping, salvage beam operation, cargo management. Done in the Persistent Universe with a veteran member. Org will provide ship access.
Ship mining: prospecting, fracture mechanics, extraction, refinery handoff. Plus personal multi-tool hand mining and ATLS usage.
All activities done while correctly using the Regolith website (regolith.rocks). Evaluator signs off on active participation throughout.
Logistics Pilot is the first leadership-adjacent cert. It also requires S(2) from the Squadron path — start that in parallel if you're not already there.
Required for all members regardless of division. Marines and Squadron pilots who have not completed L(3) cannot advance past M(2) or S(2) respectively. No exceptions.
Hull scraping, salvage beam operation, cargo management. Evaluator accompanies and signs off on demonstrated proficiency.
SalvageShip mining: prospecting, fracture mechanics, extraction, refinery handoff. Evaluator accompanies.
MiningPersonal multi-tool operation, gem identification, safe extraction, ATLS usage. Evaluator accompanies.
Hand MiningAll activities tracked through the Regolith website (regolith.rocks) throughout the session. Evaluator signs off on active and correct participation.

Watch Out For
Four different activities — come prepared for each one rather than learning them all on the day.
The run is usually scheduled during org events. Get on the roster in advance — don't show up without coordinating.
Gem identification and ATLS usage are things most members haven't practiced. Spend time with them specifically before your session.
The org provides access to salvage and mining ships, but you need your own multi-tool for the hand mining component.
