Operator is the Marines' elite non-leadership rank. It is designed for members who want to push their individual combat ceiling without taking on leadership responsibilities. The 5:2 KR requirement is a genuine skill gate that takes a large amount of practice.
Having this cert tells the squad leader they can put you in a solo role if needed. You are the FPS elite in the org and trusted in the most critical moments.
Non-leadership Tier 2 rank. Elite solo operator capable of acting as a solo fireteam. 5:2 kill ratio required alongside tournament-level tactics awareness.
Member can be assigned solo (act as a one-person fireteam), maintains 5:2 KR, and demonstrates tournament-level tactics (5v5 ruleset awareness).
Sustained across multiple evaluation sessions. A high bar — if you're not hitting it consistently in practice, do not request eval yet.

Trusted to operate as a one-person fireteam in critical operational moments without squad leader direction.
Squad Leader requires both Operator and the Supervisor role from Logistics. Start Supervisor now if leadership is the goal — they can run in parallel.
