NEW MEMBER
CHECKLIST

You're in Discord. Work through these 10 steps in order.
Getting Started

Ten steps. Setup, then certs, then fly.

The first six get you oriented. The next three earn your licenses. Step 10 is the whole point. Follow them in order and you'll hit Enlisted faster than anyone who skips ahead.

Phase 1 — Get Set Up
Done

Join Discord

Complete

You're already here — this is step one down. Discord is the org's home base. Evals get scheduled here, events are announced here, and leadership is reachable here. Keep an eye on the channels relevant to your division.

2

Read Rules & Culture

Required

Read the Rules & Culture page on this site and then read #rules-and-info in Discord. Both cover the same conduct standards — chain of command, zero-tolerance policies, and what we expect of every member. You'll be asked to confirm you've read them before advancing.

3

Choose Your Division

Required

Review the Divisions overview and pick your primary: Marines (FPS PvP), Squadron (space combat), or Logistics (PvE operations). You can dual-path later — but pick one now. It determines which cert you pursue after L(1) and L(2).

4

Introduce Yourself

Required

Post in #introductions in Discord. Include your RSI handle, your Star Citizen experience level, and which division you're going for. Leadership reads every intro — this is how you get noticed and get help faster. Don't skip it.

5

Apply on RSI

Required

Apply to the org at robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/RUNEGUARD. Once you've applied, let us know in Discord — drop a message in #introductions or #general so a staff member can approve your application. Both RSI and Discord membership are required for your Recruit role.

6

Read This Site

Required

Go through the New Member Overview and the cert pages for your division. Understand how the certification system works, what L(1) and L(2) involve, and what your division entry cert looks like. Showing up to your first eval already knowing the format saves everyone time.

Phase 2 — Earn Your Licenses
7

Start With L(1)

First Cert

Post in #cert-scheduling in Discord to set up your L(1) evaluation. You'll need a Guardsman+ evaluator and at least 3 other members present. The session is a guided turret practice in Arena Commander plus a short medical quiz. There is no hard kill threshold — L(1) is an orientation, not a gate. Just show up and participate.

8

Start L(2) Right After

Second Cert

Once L(1) is logged, don't wait — jump into L(2). Three tasks: a solo Vanduul Swarm run (survive 5 waves), a comm array hack you record yourself, and an engineering video confirmation. L(2) has real pass/fail conditions, so read the details before you start.

9 Optional

Division Entry Cert

Combat Divisions

If you're going Marines or Squadron, start your division cert after L(2). Marines pursue M(1) — a live FPS TDM match with a 3:4 kill ratio threshold. Squadron pilots pursue S(1) — a settings verification session plus the Yela asteroid race circuit. Logistics members skip this and proceed to L(3) as their division path.

Phase 3 — Come Play
10

Join an Event & Fly With Us

The Point

Org events are posted in #events in Discord — mining ops, combat scrimmages, PvP nights, and more on a regular schedule. You don't need to wait until you're Enlisted to show up. Come fly with the org, earn DKP, and meet the people you'll be running ops with. Everything above leads here.

Questions? We've Got You.

Ask in #help or #general on Discord — someone is almost always online and leadership checks cert channels daily.
