An affiliate is a player or organization that participates in Rune Guard activities on an occasional basis without being a full member. Affiliates are guests — not members — and the RG 2.0 revamp has made that distinction clearer and more structured than before.
Under the RG 2.0 revamp, affiliates now receive reduced Discord access and event participation compared to the prior system. This is intentional — the goal is to keep the member core tight and focused, while still welcoming genuine partner orgs through the Ambassador program.
There are two external relationship types in Rune Guard. They are not interchangeable.
| Before RG 2.0 | After RG 2.0 |
|---|---|
| Affiliates absorbed loosely into the org | Affiliates are clearly external — guests, not members |
| Broader Discord access for outside players | Reduced Discord access for affiliates |
| Multiple ambassador roles per partner org | One Ambassador per org maximum |
| Affiliate/member lines were blurry | Hard separation between members and external parties |
| Prior affiliate members absorbed to Recruit | Clean slate under the new structure |
The goal isn't to be unwelcoming — it's to prevent the old pattern of people using Rune Guard resources and community without actually being committed members. Full member access is earned through the certification system and consistent participation. Affiliates who want more access have a clear path: join, go through onboarding, and earn their place.
If you want full access to Rune Guard — events, certifications, org resources — the path starts with joining Discord and going through the standard onboarding process. Contact us via Discord and leadership will walk you through it.
